Methi Besan Sabzi Recipe


A traditinal gujarati dish prepared with a blend of fenugreek leaves, gram flour and Indian spices.


  • Bunch of methi/fenugreek leaves
  • 5 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4th tablespoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4th tablespoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4th tablespoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 1-2 Green Chillies
  • 2 cups besan
  • Salt to Taste
  1. Pluck the methi leaves and soak them in water
  2. Squeeze the methi leaves and chop them finely
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds
  4. Now add chopped fenugreek leaves
  5. Add all the masalas like turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt
  6. Saute the fenugreek for a minute, Add 2 cups of water and cover the vessel
  7. Cook for 10 minutes or till the methi gets completed cooked
  8. After methi is cooked now add some chopped green chillies
  9. Now add besan/gram flour just few minutes before serving
  10. After the gram flour is added stir continuously and quickly so that there are no lumps formed
  11. Methi besan ki sabzi is ready
  12. Serve this sabzi hot with phulkas, onion tomato kachumber, masala rice and buttermilk
